GD Vajra Barbera d'Asti - If you enjoy Italian red wines, you will absolutely love this rich scented red from Vajra. G.D. Vajra Barbera is sourced from old Barbera vines situated high up in the Piedmontese hills. The violet red colour alludes to the sweet dark fruits, giving the wine a refined elegance. A wonderful balance of zesty acidity and rich plum fruit with hints dark chocolate on the finish. Italy - Piedmont / Grape - Barbera / ABV 15%
Teusner Avatar - One of Kym Teusner's most famous blends. Briary, earthy flavours from the Grenache are integrated seamlessly with the autumn fruit notes from the Shiraz and Mataro. Finely grained tannins carry the flavours along perfectly into a long and rewarding finish. South Australia / Grape - Grenache 50%, Mataro 30%, Shiraz 20% / ABV 14.5%
Castagni, Reverdito Barolo - Michele Reverdito started producing his own wines in 2000, his father having previously sold his harvests to neighbouring estates, and they get better every year as more vineyards are added (currently 20 hectares in total) including vines up to 30 years old. The Castagni is surprisingly accessible, being delicious when young although it will also develop well in bottle over 5-10 years, and offers great value for the quality: lots of typical dark morello cherry and forest fruit, sweet spice and leather with a more savoury, smoky finish and firm but rounded tannins. Italy - Piedmont / Grape - Nebbiolo / ABV 14.5%
Burle, Pallieroudas Gigondas - The Burle brothers took over the running of this estate from their father Edmond in 2004, Florent managing the vineyards and Damien in charge of the winemaking. Their 'Les Pallieroudas' cuvee is from 65 year old vines and is packed with character, lively but quite full-bodied with fresh, ripe black cherry and raspberry fruit, some soft cinnamon spice, gentle earthy tannins and notes of leather and garrigue herbs. France - Rhone Valley / Grape - 85% Grenache & 15% Mourvedre / ABV 13.5%
San Marzano Talo, Primitivo - A rich and opulent wine with vibrant flavours of ripe cherries and plums combined with subtle overtones of cocoa and vanilla. This wine has a velvety texture, softened by the warmth of the Primitivo grapes; brambly fruits on the palate and a persistent sweetness on the finish.
Italy - Pulgia / Grape - 100% Primitivo / ABV 14%
Roudier St Emilion - Rich, ripe and luscious red berry and plum fruit on the nose. The palate is soft with Raspberry, Blackberry, Plum and Fig, Capsicum and Vanilla linger on the palate with alcohol warmth.
France - Bordeaux / Grape - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc / ABV 14%
